Over ten years of experience, and thousands of rhythm events.

Nels Anderson

Nels Anderson, the owner of Drum Utah and co-owner of Bowerbird Art Studio, has always been passionate about creating new and unique experiences that combine science and art. He believes in using rhythm and play to help people discover new things about themselves and each other.

Growing up in a rural area, Nels developed a love for nature, gardening, building forts, and raising animals. His time working and living on a permaculture farm in Costa Rica inspired him to return home and pursue a degree in Biology at the University of Utah.

After graduating, Nels discovered a passion for facilitating rhythm-based group activities, and he began working as a drum facilitator. Despite never considering himself a musician, he was amazed by the power of rhythm and laughter to bring people together. This led him to create Drum Utah, which has enabled him to share his love of rhythm with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Over the past 12+ years, Nels has worked with tens of thousands of people across the United States and internationally, developing innovative programs for youth and adults. His focus on fun, team-building, science, nature, culture, and music has made him a sought-after facilitator in the community, and he continues to inspire others to discover the joy and power of rhythm.
